I wanted a period fireplace constructing. Martin made it to my specifications and did a brilliant job. He came and fitted it and arranged for a tiler to complete the work. It looks just right and resembles the kind a fireplace that would have been in the house originally.

Martin arrived on time for both appointments. The first to look at the property, the second to carry out the repairs. He arrived with a colleague and set to work straight away. Both men worked really well, taking down the rotten wood and restoring the side of the garage with UVPC and finishing the work to a high standard. They removed all their mess leaving the paving in the garden as they had found it. I would use this company again for myself, they were friendly and approachable and would highly recommended to anyone thinking of using their services.

Really happy with our tv wall, completed to a high standard. Found an image online of how we wanted the wall to look and itâs a perfect match. Other jobs also completed such as fixing tall headboard, radiator covers and shoe cabinet to wall, as well as hanging several mirrors. Prompt and professional, would highly recommended.

Excellent customer service. Martin & Co have done an amazing job on our ground floor renovation. From the back door to the front door! New kitchen. Lantern roof . New flooring. Downstairs toilet. Plastering. Fitting skirting boards. Pointing of all the outside walls. Everyone was always on time and Martin was always available for questions and queries. The length of the job went to the plan made from March 23 to June 23. Would very highly recommend.

We couldnât be happier with the work Martin and his team completed on our house recently, which included structural alterations, replacing patio doors and a window and making safe some DIY building work by the previous owner. From start to finish all communication was excellent, he kept us up to date of what was being done and when and everyone arrived exactly when expected. Martin and team did a great job removing, replacing and painting 6 internal doors. This included restoring a very dilapidated vestibule with safety glass. Martin even took time to fix a sticking garage door, which wasn't part of the task! Martin removed partition wall, fit suspended ceiling with down-lights, skimmed walls and ceiling. Electrics, fit 2 new internal doors and casings and installed a complete new kitchen to plans. I have used Martin's services several times in recent years so already knew his standard of workmanship to be of the highest quality. The current job of removing an old cast iron soil pipe which was in a very awkward position, both internal and at first floor level, was tasked to Martin to remove and make good the external wall. Martin arrived promptly, arranged the scaffolding, kept me updated at every stage and completed the job to my complete satisfaction. Martin initially came to quote for all new windows and doors and after inspecting them gave excellent advice to just repair/replace a few which saved us money to do other projects. Used Martin from a word of mouth recommendation. From the initial quote to completion kept me updated on progress and helpful recommendations to help me get plans drawn up. Work involved opening up my lounge and dining room to be open plan, relocating radiators and electrical sockets. Martin and his team replaced a rotten door to an outbuilding in a very professional way. They arrived at the time agreed, and the job was carried out speedily, cleanly and in an appropriate manner under the present Covid restrictions. The replacement door had to be shaped to fit the awkward sized opening. The final result was a fabulous job, well executed. Martin and team replaced a combination front door frame which was dated. They replaced with an outer colour cream Etal door with Sierra glass on white internals. They also replaced side panel with beautiful energy saving glass. From initial contact with Martin to installation every aspect was efficient. Martin and his team constructed and fitted a replacement back gate. This gate was for an odd shaped entry and had to be specially made, on site. They de-constructed the old broken one and replaced it with the new one, all within three hours. What a fantastic achievement. Plenty of advice was also given on how to take care our new gate.

I employed martin howarth to fit a completely new bathroom suite ,including removing the original tiles and plaster ( down to the brickwork ) and also the old ceiling and floor . From the beginning martin organised the whole process as easy as possible ,itemising the estimate and again a set price. martin project managed the whole team ,including co-ordination with specialist traders - plasterers ,including dry - lining ,replacement brickwork,,tiler , plumber , electrician. Martin and his team recently undertook some work for us, including replacing an existing stain glass window and front door and removing an external porch. The work also involved sandblasting and re-pointing the whole front section of the house to remove any traces of the old porch. I employed Martin to renovate a early 1970's detached house, including rewiring, repair of flood damage, new central heating including boiler, building work (removing walls, replacing ceilings, creating internal doors, loft access), new doors and windows and kitchen replacement. From the beginning Martin made this whole process as easy as possible itemising the estimate (something most others did not do) and agreeing a set price, excluding any issues or surprises found along the way. Martin project managed the whole renovation including recommending specialist traders, and co-ordinated with them directly the work that was required. When surprises did appear, as they will, Martin showed me the issue and we agreed a way forward, I used about half my 10% contingency (recommended for mid-sized building projects). Work was completed on time, to an excellent standard and with follow-up. Feedback from the neighbours was that although this was obviously a major piece of work, Martin's team were always polite and considerate. If I ever need any work doing again I will use Martin Howarth Home Improvements.

New wooden floors and joists installed . Martin and his team attended took 2and one half days to completely replace the joist and floor in one room and also part of a joist and complete wooden floor in another. The work was completed to a high standard inter spaced with recuperative cups of tea and coffee. The team were very polite and tidy,clearing up after themselves. Following a flood from a blocked toilet, we asked Martin to refurbish our bathroom in June 2017. It wasnââ¬â¢t a straightforward job. We wanted an old WC knocking into the main bathroom to create one larger room with a walk-in shower area and vaulted ceiling with skylight. As part of the work, a doorway and a wall needed removing, an old window needed to be bricked up, a new wall needed erecting and old immersion heater tank needed to be removed.The result is stunning, even better than weââ¬â¢d hoped.Martin was great throughout, initially helping us plan the layout of the job to get the most out of our space and even travelling to brick yards around the north west to get brick matches for our 120 year old house.The trades required for the job (electrician/plasterer/bathroom fitter/plumber) were all clearly top notch and did a fantastic job.Iââ¬â¢d only ever use Martin for any future building work we wanted to undertake.

Martin carried out a full kitchen refurbishment for us in May 2017 following substantial water damage as a result of a blocked drain. It was a big project that not only included the kitchen refurbishment (back to brick) but also the addition of a new utility room, boiler, walkway, chimney surround for the range oven and ground floor WC, which required significant structural changes and building control approval.Martin managed the project brilliantly from start to finish. He not only helped us at planning stage to get the most out of the available space but he also organised the different trades including electricians, kitchen fitters, plumbers, plasterers and tilers to work seamlessly together, which meant the project was completed as quickly as possible.The finish and attention to detail was fantastic and Martin would always check with us before starting on a new stage of the job in case weââ¬â¢d changed our mind (which happened frequently).Martin and his team were there on time every morning and he was also happy to tackle any extra bits weââ¬â¢d think of along the way.The bottom line is that I wouldnââ¬â¢t want any builder other than Martin to do any work for us in the future.

Martin carried out a complete kitchen refurbishment for us in December 2015. This was quite a complicated job but it was completed both on time and to budget. We were so impressed with that job that we didn't hesitate for one minute to ask Martin to do a similar complete bathroom refurbishment for us in January this year. He worked closely with us in the planning stage and helped us to make maximum use of the space available as well as assisting us in the choice of fixtures and fittings. This was a really comprehensive job which involved the whole range of trades - plumbing, electrics, plastering, tiling, joinery as well as removal of tiles down to bare brick, re-plastering , re-tiling and , of course, installation of all the new fixtures and fittings. Once again, the job was completed exactly as planned. It's a top quality job in all respects and we simply love our new bathroom. The added bonus for us was that Martin and his team completed the job in just over 2 weeks whilst we were away on our annual winter break . Martin kept us informed regularly whilst we were away and we were delighted with what greeted us on our return. Full marks to Martin and Co!

Organised for Martin (and Team) to do some work for my parents as he has done previously for us. The work was carried out in a timely and professional manner, and he also fitted an extra little job in organising for someone to fix their front door.

Needed a new back gate as the old one had rotted. Chose Martin first as he had done work for us before. Arrived on time and had the job all done as we wanted. Also he explained what would be needed and not needed beforehand when he came to measure up so we knew how it would look. We totally recommend Martin for his work.

Martin undertook some work for us, he installed a loft ladder, replaced the hatch and made good. Some piping had to be moved for this job, as well as some electrical work. He also converted our 2 front bedrooms to one big one, and re plaster skimmed both bedrooms. All work was completed to a very high standard, Martin kept us informed of any changes required and did the job in the time he promised. We are very pleased with the work undertaken and would recommend his firm without hesitation.

Installed new units and sanitary ware in cloak/utility room. Replaced six upstairs doors and three windowsills. All work completed to a very high standard as we have come to expect from Martin who has completed several projects for us in the past.

Martin took over building our balcony after we were let down badly and robbed of money by other builders. He and his subcontractors were very efficient, courteous and completed the job to our complete satisfaction. Martin agreed to help us sort out a mess left by previous builders when others on the good trader site were not interested. Martin liaised with building control and we now have a completion certificate. Martin co-ordinated all trades and the work was completed to a very good standard on time and budget. I november we had a new kitchen fitted. Martin installed the kitchen and arranged for the plumbing and tiling to be carried out. He was efficient and punctual and the job was completed on time. We would have no hesitation using Martin again for any jobs and would highly recommend him to anyone(including friends and family) who require home improvements to there property. EXCELLENT JOB!!!!

Martin came to reveal the bath/shower area- a small job. However he found rotten floorboards and joist from an on going leak. He and his team carried out major repairs to the floor, cloakroom and hall ceiling,which also suffered from the leak. He organised a brickie, plumber, electrician and plasterer. All this worked was squeezed into his already busy schedule. The problem was sorted efficiently and to a very high standard. He was always on time and tidied up at the end of each session. I would certainly recommend Martin and wouldn't hesitate to employ him again. He helped us out of a terrible problem. Thanks Martin and Michael

We were very pleased with the work Martin and his team did for us. We had two new windows and new gutters. All the work was completed within two days and everything was cleared away and left tidy. Martin kept us informed at all times. We cannot fault their workmanship and would recommend to anyone.

Martin and Michael have just completed a comprehensive refurbishment of our kitchen. Together with their tradesman colleagues they have completely transformed the kitchen and we are absolutely delighted with what they have achieved. They listened carefully to what we had in mind and, not only did they accurately translate our ideas to the finished item , they guided us and advised us on how we could improve them even further. The job was completed on time and to budget and nothing has been too much trouble. We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Martin to other potential customers. He truly provides a 5 star service. They were even fun to have around!

Martin organised all trades and project managed all aspects of the home improvements. Having seen Martins work carried out on our new offices I had no hesitation in using his services to carry out work on the needed to my own home following a move to Wigan.With a bathroom that needed stripping back to bare brick, damp on the ground floor and numerous other issues around the house, the service and quality of Martin's work has given us a home we can now live in.Both my wife and myself would have no hesitation in recommending Martin for any type of work required.

we cannot praise Martin and his team highly enough!. This was a complicated job that Martin spent a considerable amount of time beforehand, planning. They did a fabulous job to an extremely high standard, and we are delighted with the results. They were all pleasant, punctual and tried to keep the mess minimal, cleaning up as much as possible each day. We have used Martin before and we will use him again. We know that he is very much in demand and he has a waiting list, bit it is definately worth the wait.

Martin spent a considerable amount of time working out a solution to a difficult design problem. This involved removing a wall to reduce the size of the bathroom to allow construction of an en suite shower room without losing too much space from our bedroom. New walls were built and the en suite and new bathroom were installed to the highest standard by Martin and Michael his apprentice. Martin consulted us throughout the project and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Plumbing, plastering, painting, tiling and installation of lighting were carried out by contractors who were all equally conscientious, pleasant and polite. It is hardly surprising that with so reliable a trader a wait may be necessary, particularly for a big job like ours, but it is well worth being patient!

We initially asked Martin to install a partition wall, replace a window and take out a fireplace. Unfortunately, on the day before he was due to commence work, we discovered an area of wet rot in the floor as well, which needed immediate attention.Martin and his apprentice completed all the work, including the floor and attending to the damp-proof course, to an excellent standard, and we are very satisfied with the result.We would certainly ask him to do other work on the house, if the need arose again.We have no hesitation in recommending him.

The work carried out by Martin is always excellent. He is very honest and takes pride in his work. He acts as project manager pulling all other contractors together. He is not satisfied until the work is completed to a very high standard and I would not consider using any other contractor. Martin has done quite a lot of work for me over the years and always provides a first class service.

I have used this company for a variety of work from fitting bedrooms and kitchen to small maintenance jobs. All work carried out has been to an excellent standard. Took a bit to get Martin booked in as he was very busy, but chose to wait based on the existing feedback from this site. The work was carried out quickly and to a great standard.
